N.B. village’s drinking water security bolstered from federal, provincial, municipal funding

Kedgwick, N.B. – Three levels of government have invested almost $4 million into improving the village’s drinking water security and stormwater management.

The funding will help replace water and sewer service pipes and the installation of a new storm sewer line to separate sanitary sewer collection service.

The project will eliminate boil water advisories caused by emergency work and reduce the overflow of stormwater into the sanitary system. The improvements will help provide more reliable services to residents and protect the environment.

“Water and sewer infrastructure is key to keeping our communities and our environment healthy,” René Arseneault, Member of Parliament for Madawaska—Restigouche, said. “Today’s investment will make services more efficient and reliable in addition to improving the quality of life of Kedgwick residents. We will keep working collaboratively with our partners to invest in critical infrastructure projects across the country.”

The Government of Canada is investing more than $1.5 million into the project while the Government of New Brunswick is contributing more than $1.3 million and the Village of Kedgwick is providing more than $1 million.
